Some Christmas postcards have the unique characteristic that allows one to examine the changes that Santa Claus has undergone over the years. He hasn't always been rosy-cheeked, portly, and donned a red coat! Some early American versions of Mr. Kringle haven him clean-shaven and wearing purple or green.
